Hop on the Woodlawn Conservancy Trolley a take a ride through horse racing history.
The first running of the prestigious Belmont Stakes was held at the Jerome Racetrack in the Bronx.
Many of the owners and breeders of Belmont winners are memorialized at Woodlawn.
These “Kings of the Turf” are resting together after decades of intense completion at the racetrack. Among the notables we’ll visit on this historic walking tour are: George Lorillard, James Keene, William Ziegler, Jr., James Ben Ali Haggin, Harry Payne Whitney, William Woodward, Richard Thornton Wilson, Jr. and Fannie Hertz.
We will be meeting at the Jerome Avenue and Bainbridge Avenue gate at 1:45 PM and the Trolley Tour will begin at 2:00 PM.
We anticipate this tour selling out quickly so tickets must be purchased in advance.
Tour is rain or shine. Ticket sales are final. Refunds will not be issued.
We are located directly across the street from the Woodlawn stop on the IRT #4 subway.
Free parking available in Woodlawn Cemetery.
We look forward to hosting you.
