Dorothy Parker and the Talk of the Town New Yorkers
Registration is closed for this event

The newest boldface name to join the pantheon of great New Yorkers of Woodlawn Cemetery is the author, poet, and crusader, Dorothy Parker.  After an odyssey beginning with her death in 1967, Parker's cremains were interred beside her parents in August 2020.  Woodlawn welcomes you to come on this new walking tour that will visit her gravesite along with notable artists, captains of industry, explorers, performers and writers.  In the spirit of Mrs. Parker, we'll visit those with ties to Broadway, speakeasies and the arts.

Kevin C. Fitzpatrick, founder of the Dorothy Parker Society, who brought Mrs. Parker’s cremains from Baltimore to New York for her family, leads this walking tour. He is the author of eight books tied to New York history. He is a three-time winner of the Apple Award from the Guides Association of New York City.

We will be meeting at the Webster Ave. entrance gate.  Space is limited to 20 participants and we anticipate the tour selling out quickly, so purchase your tickets in advance now.  Wearing a mask is required and social distancing of 6ft. will be practiced with fellow guests and cemetery staff, at all times.

New York State Covid-19 Travel Advisory requires visitors from certain states to quarantine for 14 days.  If you are traveling to NYC from any of these states, visitors are required to complete the online Traveler Heatlth Form.

Tour is rain or shine.  Ticket sales are final.  Refunds will not be issued.

Free parking is available in the Woodlawn Cemetery
