SOLD OUT–The Greats of Jazz and Vaudeville: A Victrola Trolley Tour
Registration is closed for this event

Join us on this socially-distanced trolley tour as we visit and celebrate some of the greatest performers from 100 years and their indelible musical contributions to jazz, pop and vaudeville history.

To enforce proper social distancing, the Woodlawn Conservancy trolley has been retrofitted with tempered glass shields between each row.  We have also reduced the capacity of participants that will be permitted to register for the tour and throughout the tour all windows will remain open.  All participants will be mandated to wear a mask on the trolley and to practice 6-ft. of social distancing with fellow guests and cemetery staff, at all times.  Per Woodlawn's COVID maintenance standards, the trolley will be thoroughly cleaned before the event and hand sanitizer will be available for all participants.

Each stop will include a brief talk about the entertainer PLUS a 78 rpm record played on an antique crank-up Victrola as an aural dimension to the tour.

Artists include:

Nat M. Wills, George M. Cohan, Irene and Vernon Castle, Nora Bayes, Bert Williams, W.C. Handy, King Oliver, Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin.

This tour is 2.5 hours long and involves short periods of walking to and from the trolley and between sites.  Tour is led by Michael Cumella (aka Phonograph DJ MAC) host of The Antique Phonograph Music Program and Centennial Songs on WFMU since 1995.  MAC is the creator of the Phonograph DJ concept and is active in the live presentation of pre-electric 78rpm records on crank-up gramophones.

We will be meeting at the Jerome Ave. and Bainbridge Ave. gate at 2:15 PM and the Trolley Tour will begin at 2:30 PM.

Space is limited to 15 participants and we anticipate this tour selling out quickly, so purchase your tickets in advance, now.

Tour is rain or shine.  Ticket sales are final.  Refunds will not be issued.

We are located directly across the street from the Woodlawn stop on the #4 subway.  Free parking is available in Woodlawn Cemetery.

We look forward to hosting you.
