IN 1985, the city of New York embarked on its first Great Tree Search, designating trees in each borough of unusual size, species, form or historical association. The Woodlawn Cemetery has five of these Great Trees.

Weeping Beech (Fagus sylvatica "Pendula")
Located next to the Gould Family Mausoleum, Lake View Plot

Pendent Silver Linden (Tilla petolaris)
Located near the Woolworth Chapel

White Pine (Pinus strobes)
Located near the Woolworth Chapel

European Cut Leaf Beech (Fagus sylvatica "Laciniata")
Located next to the Manger Family Mausoleum, Woodbine Plot

Umbrella Pine (Sciadopitys verticillata)
Located next to the Paterno Family Mausoleum, Chestnut Hill Plot
