Home Owner Guidelines

Keep Your Records Up to Date

The owner of a lot, crypt or niche is traditionally the individual who made the original purchase. When the original owner passes, burial rights are transferred to the next generation. Lot owners should file an heirship affidavit (family tree) with our administration department to identify those who have rights to be buried at Woodlawn.

Owner Authorization

Before you make plans to make changes or improvements to your space at Woodlawn, provide our administration department with the contact information for the current owner of the lot. Alterations require the approval of the lot owner and the cemetery.

Rules and Regulations

These guidelines are approved by the New York State Division of Cemeteries and outline the responsibilities of the cemetery and our lot owners.

Woodlawn takes pride in maintaining our grounds to the highest standards possible. General maintenance of Woodlawn includes regular mowing and trimming of the grass as well as the care of trees and shrubs planted by the cemetery.

Lot owners are responsible for the care of memorials and plantings on their lots. Woodlawn offers special care for those lot owners who provide funds for annual care, the establishment of an endowment or the restoration of a memorial. To obtain an estimate for any of our special services, contact our administration department.
