Volunteers have always played a critical role in Friends public programs, events and projects that support The Woodlawn Cemetery.
No matter your age or interests, your skills or schedule, you can help the Friends in its valuable work. Volunteering is a great way to expand your knowledge of the rich resources available at the cemetery, give back to your community, meet new people, and share your appreciation of Woodlawn with others.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Tour Guides: Those eager to learn more about the cemetery and share it with the public are needed for General Tours, School Programs and Halloween History and Mystery tours. Guides will be trained to give 2 hour, 1.5 mile walking tours.
Database Entry: You can work on site or from your home computer helping us enter interment records into our database. We’re building a searchable database that will be accessible from our website.
Biographers: Everyone has a story to tell and no one should be forgotten. Help us to write brief biographies (50-250 words) on those at rest for the Biography Database. Each writer receives a research packet. This is a perfect project for those who want to work from home or from a distance.
Genealogy: Woodlawn receives thousands of requests for information and we need volunteers to help us connect family historians and descendants with their ancestors. Volunteers email responses, copy records and photograph memorials to send to researchers. Training is one on one with cemetery staff.
